Low pay. Product owner and scrum master seem useless.

Pros

I genuinely enjoy working at Applied Systems. - My coworkers are friendly and hard-working. It's clear to me they are committed to making the best products they can. We're comfortable asking each other for help and bringing up disagreements with each other with an eye towards finding the best approach, not to winning arguments. - Management is awesome. I feel very comfortable talking to my boss when I need help, and he definitely helps me and my team get great work done instead of causing us extra stress. The other managers in my office also have good reputations. - Senior management is very knowledgeable about the company and have a strong strategy in place. And their strategy isn't focused on bean-counting, but rather on providing good employees with the resources they need to make strategically important projects as high-quality as possible. Management rarely talks about exactly when they expect the company to hit specific financial milestones, but rather talks about why it believes the company strategy will drive growth as much as possible, whatever the exact numbers are. - Great work-life balance. Every now and then, about once per year, there's a crunch time where I have to work 50-60 hours or come in on weekends for a few weeks. But the rest of the time, 40 hour weeks are the norm, and no one is watching the clock for exactly when we arrive or leave. - The company has been consistently growing for the last several years. And because the company is actively developing new products and watching new markets to enter, I believe it will continue to grow steadily for the foreseeable future. - Career opportunities. When a position opens up, the company prefers to hire employees who want to move to the position instead of hiring outside. I've seen several of my coworkers enter programming or product management jobs from call center positions as a result. And my boss has been very clear with me about what I need to do to earn a promotion.

Cons

Applied tends to pay below market average. For me, though, the great work environment is worth it.

Pros

Company culture is the best of any job I've had. Coworkers and managers are great! It's a very laid back atmosphere. Extremely casual dress code. Decent benefits. Generous paid time off. Ability to work from home sometimes. Pay is decent in my opinion...yes, you can make more if you are willing to commute to Chicago, but I personally am not.

Cons

As with any customer service job, there are some nice customers and some that really test your patience. Room for growth into other departments is there, but not for everyone. Those hired for Epic software support have ALOT more opportunities to grow than those who support the older softwares. Also, the amount of the 401K match is kind of a joke.
