Pros

This is a wonderful company to work for. The key word being work. I think some people get a job to bring meaning to their life, but most people just want to get paid. What a concept, you come to work and do a good job and you get paid for it. I think the quality of work and the pay or promotions go hand in hand in most cases. Even better, if they chose to, they have the ability to go elsewhere whenever they want to, but for some unforeseen reason they chose to stick around and complain and spread their negativity. I have never seen anyone tied up and made to stay here. Obviously there must be a reason they stick around....perhaps they like getting paid? Perhaps some people are just going to miserable no mater what, and that's okay. Enough about that.......There are many pros to working at Applied, but I would suggest you visit the website, call HR or actually talk to someone who really works here. Keep in mind, negative opinions are more talked about than the positive ones, which is why I decided to post my opinion. Keeping in mind our opinions are a point of view from our own perspective. My experience here has been positive. I have been here over 10 years, but I have worked very hard for my job/position and I do not have it JUST because I have been here for a while. I earned it!

Cons

I'm sure cons and pros are different depending on each persons' situation. I can't say it's a long commute because it has easy access to almost everywhere now, especially since stunkel road construction completed and now it's super easy access to 57. I can't complain about the cost of clothing or dress code, because most employees have a casual dress code. I can't say the pay is bad, because it has been paying my bills for a while now. I cant' say the employees are bad, because I have made many friends at all levels of the organization. No organization is perfect....if there is one, I'm sure they have no job openings...lol Of course there are little negatives, but believe it or not I really had to stop and think of what they might be. Working remotely more often better interdepartmental communication worry more about getting the job done and less about the daily processes

Pros

After working here for 8 years, with ownership by several equity companies and two CEOs, I definitely feel like this company is looking ahead. There have been strides toward internal transparency and expanding the portfolio to ensure future success. The CEO is quite frank about what he expects from us, and what we should expect from him and his management team. I feel much more engaged with senior management under this regime. There are opportunities in many different enterprise-level technologies, although those may not always be available to everyone... once you're entrenched on a team it can take quite a while before changes can happen. However, the flexibility overall is improving and while Applied continues to expand into new lateral fields in the insurance industry, the number of opportunities to be involved in something new is always increasing.

Cons

Compensation is really on the low side. When I received my first job offer it was 20% lower than my current salary. I quickly declined that offer but they countered with a more reasonable offer - still I got the feeling that low-balling salaries unless you pushed back was the M.O. (at least under the previous owner/management). Things seem to have improved since then but that's mostly hearsay. Vacation is also on the light side. You only get 2 weeks until you've been here for 5 years, then you go to 3 weeks. I was getting 25 days off at my previous job (6-year tenure) so that was a difficult adjustment. You can only roll over 1 week so it's difficult to build up a decent amount of time off for an extended trip.

Pros

The company is filled with amazing people to work with. My boss is very understanding of family issues that come up. I've had children while working here and was always accommodated when I needed to pump breast-milk for my babies, or take time off for appointments for them.

Cons

A lot of responsibilities for not a ton of compensation.
