Pros

- overall, people you work with are professionals and experts in the filed - strong HR infrastructure; relatively good work/life balance; exciting staff events - decent benefits (insurance, PTO) - although you are hired as a consultant, the company is vested to keep you for multiple projects thus brings work stability (even when the contract ends)

Cons

Your experience will depend on the business group you are assigned to, so human factor makes a HUGE difference in your success. I have worked for multiple groups with polar management styles, business vision and client management. Many times, it felt like the group had no vision and ability to manage the client at all. It came down to billable hours and imitation of work vs. delivering quality work. Top it with managers with no management experience, personal dramas at work and plain gossip and you find yourself in consulting purgatory. If you are considering a position with Aquilent, read company reviews and do not dismiss the small things. They will get you later! Positions in Laurel differ greatly compared to projects @ government sites. Prepare yourself for lots of unnecessary and progress diminishing politics to get work done. Never again Aquilent!

Pros

Working on mostly government contracts, you enjoy a decent work-life balance. The compensation is pretty fair for a smallish consulting firm.

Cons

Absolute disconnect between employees & management at HQ and those working on client sites. Although HR seems to have stabilized, they went through a period of terrible HR leadership. If you are one of those people working on a client site and don't ingratiate yourself to your BU Director, you can expect a pink slip if/when the company loses the contract.
