Fortune 500 Company - Needs better benefits

Pros

-Decent healthcare benefits but lacks vision coverage for the salaried side. -Compensation is decent but could be better. (Important for employee retention) -Changes being implemented with advancement in access to technologies for employee use. -The company supplies its steel to a diverse number of companies/industries so AM employees, as well as their family and friends, enjoy discounts / perks on major brands, discounted/free admission to museums and local events, etc. -Opportunities for growth and advancement as the company sees a major portion of its workforce enter retirement. -In my experience, every manager I've worked under at AM is very supportive, thoughtful, understanding and flexible with their employees -- they've got your back. (May be a different experience for others depending on the division/location) -Company offers classes and training programs for continuous learning and development. -Tuition reimbursement for approved undergrad and graduate programs, which is a nice incentive.

Cons

-Union employees get ridiculous benefits and BONUSES that the salaried side doesn't receive in equal proportion or at all. (Lots of grumbles through the offices) This impacts morale when you see the collective bargaining side receive far superior treatment than the salaried side. I thought we were a team? -3 weeks vacation (not bad) but no increase until 15 years of service (what a joke--15 years)! It's a global company so when you see fellow European co-workers, it's depressing to see how much vacation/personal time off they get. And for a company that abides by EU human rights, laws, policies and applies them in the U.S. since they're more robust, it doesn't make sense they wouldn't model the same vacation policies its EU counterparts get in the US. You do not get New Year's Eve off... again, why? Everyone else is shutdown. Another policy that does not make sense for salaried/office employees. -No vision coverage for salaried employees (Very strange) -Very large corporation so it's easy to get lost in the crowd and feel like just another number, bureaucracy is heavy causing confusion and slow progress.
