Pros

•Remote work available on most teams •Teammates can make or break a team

Cons

•Communication has decreased since merger •Loss of accrued PTO, replaced with a flexible PTO policy. New policy marketed as unlimited but has a strictly enforced cap that was never officially communicated •Loyalty between management and employees has broken down •Pay was always below market

Pros

Working at Ardent offered the opportunity to collaborate with highly intelligent and hardworking individuals. The team culture encouraged rolling up your sleeves and tackling challenges together, fostering an environment where people were willing to step up and contribute when it mattered most.

Cons

Since the company's acquisition by Mission First in the summer of 2023, there has been significant organizational change. Historically, Ardent has had a strong foundation in geospatial work, but Mission First appears to lack the understanding or expertise in GIS necessary to support this legacy. There is an eagerness to innovate, which is commendable, but it seems misaligned with the company’s current maturity level, resulting in excessive overhead costs and unrealistic budgetary pressures. The organization also demonstrates a concerning disregard for work-life balance, often placing undue demands on employees without consideration for their well-being. Additionally, there is a tendency to pursue legal challenges over missed federal contract awards, which not only strains relationships and damages the company’s reputation but also impacts operations staff who may be left without an opportunity to recompete for those contracts. Without a strategic shift, I fear the company may face either a loss of staff or significant operational challenges to sustain its trajectory.
