Pros

The benefits are great. The people I worked with are pretty nice. Professional attitudes and development in certain areas. If you land the right position they tend to take care of you. Please keep in mind if you land the right position withe the right college/school it is fantastic. Please keep in mind every school or college or department has a very different culture and they tend to be very siloed in their attitudes and beliefs. One position may be way better or worse than another depending on culture and fit. Last thing, each campus has a very different feel which is refreshing. You may like one campus more than another but they are all great in their own ways.

Cons

Where should we start? Not all positions are created equal. I worked two very different positions. The first one was pretty good, the second one was the complete opposite. The pay is low compared to other higher education institutions. Most likely you will need a Master's degree to make decent money there. The computer systems are antiquated and outdated. While there were many good people I worked with it seems like managers and directors are not aware of what's going on on the ground. Many positions are in need of an overhaul since the job descriptions are pretty outdated to what students expect. While there is a progressive attitude and atmosphere it is at odds with glacial change in certain departments and "we've always done it this way" attitude. ASU needs to replace DARS, most students do not like nor comprehend that system. The last one one is many workers seem to be looking and applying to other positions inside and outside of the university. What surprised me was that colleagues in positions I were interested above me seemed to be as dissatisfied as colleagues at and below my level.

Pros

-Tuition is partially covered if you want to take classes at ASU -High Tech help desk with wireless headsets and dual monitors -Management is helpful in getting you into other departments if that is your goal

Cons

-Understaffed so you're constantly busy -No flexibility with schedules -You wear tons of hats/ Variety of calls with little information on how to assist on those calls -Some people (like myself) are asked to do double the work than others for the same pay and you can't really say no -Little to no feedback on performance/ one on one meetings because of service levels -High turnover rate, thus creating more work
