I was laid off without any performance-related explanation or warning — no PIP, no feedback, no indication that my position was in jeopardy. The decision felt abrupt, unjustified, and completely lacking in transparency. Despite the firm’s public image of “people-first values,” my experience was quite the opposite. Leadership’s communication during the process was vague and cold, offering no meaningful support or rationale. It’s one thing to be impacted by restructuring or performance-based cuts — it’s another to be dismissed without cause, after showing up and doing the work every day. If you’re considering working here, be aware: loyalty and effort do not guarantee job security at Armanino.

Pros

The people. Great group of people to work with at the Staff level, and lots of opportunities to learn. Exciting work environment with lots of opportunities to travel and work on different clients.

Cons

The organization was hyper focused on company growth, and viewed growth as their way of being successful. They lacked transparency in the workplace, causing lots of gossip. Management was poor, and lacked professionalism on numerous occasions with staff and seniors. Performance was not evaluated in a timely matter and highly subjective.

Diverse, Challenging Work. Many opportunities abound, provided if they are presented to you and you have the support from management.

Cons

It is a revolving door accounting firm. Unless you're the son of a partner or good friends with upper management, one's growth is likely to stagnate here. 3-4 years is good before it is time to move on due to the stifling atmosphere of office politics and the disconnect between management and staff.
