Pros

You can't get fired. You won't get laid off.

Cons

In the IT world at AAFES If you are the bright kid coming in and wanting to do good be prepared to be walked all over. You will become the go to person for everything. Nevermind the 20+ year IT people in your group that do nothing; management cannot count on them to get the job done so it's all up to you. Major project going on and its not going to get completed by your co-workers? Management will give you the project because they can count on you. This may all seem great, except that management forgets and will remind you that you are a low level employee and these things are expected of you if you want to be promoted. Speaking of promotions, I hope you will be happy with only ever being able to get a 3% bump in pay for each promotion to go along side the already low salary range they have for all employees.

Pros

Great coworkers make time pass while at work.

Cons

Too much favoritism. They also say they always help out military families by hiring spouses but I have problems with them scheduling me to close all the time when I tell them I have 3 kids and I was wasting more money on sitter than anything else. No childcare. And they really don't care for your families like they say. It's just an act.

Pros

none none none none none

Cons

they place finance people in accounting or system roles, and accounting people in strategy or analysis. For all my years of experience I have never seen such circus. They promote high-school graduates (own friends, wife or a good friend to a VP's wife) to Analyst III position, but keep super smart graduate degree holders on entry level jobs! Culture is so corrupt. It doesn't matter if one is fit and ready for a job- they place you there because someone at the top likes you. On the other hand if you are too smart or God forbid point out how incompetent the management is - they will put a hold on you and you will never get promoted. This is really bad, rotten culture of corruption. Your progression depends on whether you are "one of us" or "one of the rest".. I would definitely not recommend this place. I'm currently looking outside, and as far as I know, lots of others are looking outside too
