Depends on department

Pros

- Base pay was competitive

Cons

- Your experience will vary drastically depending on what department you work in. Some people are very happy, if they work for the right ream. Other teams will have incredibly high turnover due to bad working conditions. - Helicopter management, favoritism, inappropriate comments made by upper management - No work-life balance. Long hours with empty promises for days in lieu

Without knowing which department you experienced this in its difficult to lend perspective or direct this feedback to the correct channels. Having said that, in addition to bi-annual surveys, increased frequency of all-hands and weekly 1:1s we’re always looking for feedback from our Particles on how we can improve their experience. We take this very seriously. Our 360 reviews offer us insight into our leadership team, how they’re doing and where we can address any issues to positively impact employee experience and increase accountabilty. This is still a journey, and we continue to invest in ways to make this balance remarkably better for Particles. - Carlyn

Pros

Great team I was working with, excellent flexibility to work from home, vacation, sick time, etc. Very few companies in Van offering that kind of flexibility, does not come without cost however.

Cons

Poor communication between teams, was always fighting and suggesting more communication, with no success. P&C team was slow to make decisions because SLT wanted their hand in everything, was not able to work independently, didn't seem like senior leaders trusted functions to make their own decisions. Unsure of who made forecasting decisions but hopefully they were part of the layoffs because they were a huge contributing factor to Article's troubles. Always in crisis-mode (need more people during pandemic, shipping costs skyrocketing, changing prices then rolling back, not making enough money based on forecasts, etc.) but doing pet projects, wasting resources and taking on more risk (aloe furniture?)

We appreciate you sharing your experience. Happy to hear that our the WFH arrangement and benefits continue to contribute to a positive work/life balance. Hypergrowth shed light on the areas we need to improve, and we’ve been taking action using Particle (employee) feedback from 1 on 1’s with managers, annual 360 reviews of leadership, All-Hands, and Engagement Surveys. We encourage you to use these channels to share your feedback on an ongoing basis. However, we also know we’re not for everyone. Tech plays a large role in Articles vision, and our business is very dynamic, as a result we will continue to prioritize and repriortize work based on business needs. - Carlyn
