      Pros

      The pay is competitive, and the benefits are outstanding. The HR team really wants to make employees happy and take care of their people as well as they can.

      Cons

      Absolutely no understanding of how software development works. Deadlines are put on teams that are strapped for people, without any ability to change scope or hire on within the timeframe of the project. Upper management gives directives that are vague enough to keep them covered, but specific enough that interesting solutions are rule out. It's an enormous game of three card monte, and management is genuinely shocked that anyone can see through their street-level theatrics.

      Pros

      Great family oriented company. Great pay. Not micro-managed. Huge growth. Co-workers always supportive. Great management. Customers always first. Great product, great support. Not always a perfect company, but the best I've worked for.

      Cons

      Once the company got sold, it seemed to grow faster than some could handle. It started to become more apparent (from top management) that the money was more important than customers and employees. It felt like it was starting to tumble out of control. Other management did try to protect their employees as much as they could so they would not feel the stress. Also, not much opportunity to climb the ladder.

      Pros

      JBL Ascend has great benefits. They are a bit pricey but they cover health, dental & vision. There is a strong value place on employees especially those that contribute at a high level. Employees have a straight line to Executive Management so that their ideas are heard. Very strong understanding of the importance of work/life balance. Everyone participates in the bonus program.

      Cons

      Publishing industry is going through changes and JBL needs to be faster to market.
