Thrilled to be there at first... quickly fell apart

Pros

Initially, messed with my team well. We moved into the building... everything was very exciting and new. Lots of potential to improve the software and make a difference.

Cons

Not long after I started, my boss left. He had become so frustrated with upper management that he just could not take it any longer. Ascend had brought in a loud-mouth "alpha" male type that just made everyone around him miserable. You know the type. There were unreasonable demands placed on us - like this goofy "5 nines" crap. Really? Stress levels became so high that it was effecting my health. I had to go.

Pros

Great culture, tons of potential, new CEO with a good plan. Financially sound company only going up from here. There are some really great people and some that need to go.

Cons

Lack of accountability from leadership down. Too much focus on the "Values" to actually get any work done. Reviews are too dependent on the "Values" to accurately reflect your performance.

Pros

High Salaries and Bonuses, no PTO policy - take as much as you want. Seriously, take off as much as you like, nobody checks.

Cons

Bring em in and burn em out. Read all of the online reviews to reach your own opinion. Their bond rating was near junk status, not sure if it has improved. The IT team has only been there 1.5 years as they mostly used contractors in the past. The system is a patchwork and no project plan can be followed as nobody knows what it does.
