Pros

Aspen is a wonderful company to work for. From the exciting and stimulating projects to the friendly work environment with flexible schedules, I look forward to coming to work everyday. I have grown, professionally, since starting here and I know I will continue to grow in the years to come at Aspen.

Cons

There are times when we have to have "all hands on deck" to get a document out and we might need to work long hours, but I think that's the nature of the consulting business.

Pros

Employees work diligently, skillfully and with conviction. Absolute professionalism. The Vice-President is very in-sync with the company and staff. He is extremely knowledgeable and garners respect from within the organization and also with clients. He is the first one in and last one out. GIS department is growing in a very positive direction and under good leadership. Some excellent Project Managers with loads of talent. Work can be very collaborative and productively satisfying.

Cons

Hours will be manipulated by senior finance management based on project scope of work. Some salaried employees will find themselves working overtime to only become hourly later and forced to reduce their schedule to 36 hours or less. A shift occurred after the company started to grow top heavy. There are employees who have been with the company over ten years and they are given loyalty consideration. However, new staff hires are typically young which allows for less cost in salaries and benefits. The idea is that they gain experience and then will move on after an approximate 5 year window. With the market share growing smaller and being so highly competitive this seems very short sighted. So future growth is questionable. If you do not have a technical degree do not even think of interviewing with this company. There would be no growth opportunity at all. The president's intention's are meaningful, but he takes a passive-aggressive approach in dealing with staff which can be very undermining. He tends to come to the office late in the afternoon after staff have already achieved a good deal in their work day. This makes for a disconnect.
