Pros

Many of my co-workers are nice people.

Cons

AspenTech has an overwhelmingly negative and fearful culture, with a stifling bureaucracy, deeply unhappy employees, and a total lack of trust and empowerment from senior management. It is a dysfunctional company and a bad place to work.

Pros

-The coworkers are great. They handle a very bad situation with grace and humor. -The clients are more patient than they should be. -If you are a lawyer or a auditor selling ocean front property in Arizona, this is the place for you. - Business students looking for a good case study in how not to run a company have a perfect opportunity here. -If you are the proud owner of a wardrobe of ugly sweater vests I am sure they can make room in management for you.

Cons

-I cannot even begin to describe the atmosphere of fear that is rampant in this company. The upper management has everyone so terrified that most of the working day is spent on CYA activities. Middle management knows things are being done wrong but are too afraid to point that out for fear of being branded as "negative" -Don't let them fool you. The auditors run this company. They will hamper every effort made to advance this company and do what is best for the client. -The executive management needs to get a life. When your CEO has enough time to review each and every expense report you have a problem. -Upper management has no regard to what the clients want or need. They literally push projects to irritate competitors rather than devote limited resources to projects clients really want or need. They pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to "experts" in manufacturing to ignore everything they say. -The procedures in this company are insane! I am confident Aspen has more procedures than the government. You absolutely cannot accomplish work without fighting thru mounds of back office paperwork. -Dilbert has nothing on this place. You can have meetings to get ready for meetings. Let's not even begin to count the iterations of PowerPoint that must be conducted for an internal meeting. -There is no such thing as a work/life balance. You work for Aspen therefore they own you 24/7. They can demand that you are on the phone at 10 PM and you best have your butt in the office at 8AM and not expect to leave before 5 PM. Your weekends are optional. -If you are unfortunate enough to have a job that requires travel, I hope you enjoy traveling in coach on the cheapest airlines available. Fully expect to take a trip to Seattle on your way to Boston if it saves a few bucks. -Respect is unheard of here. Executive management takes every opportunity to remind you of how replaceable you are. No matter how hard you work or how integral you think you are to the organization do not be under the illusion that anyone cares.

Pros

Great people to work with Good benefits Stable company

Cons

This place has some of the highest turnover I have ever seen. Most employees wash out after 1 year and those who make it past 3 years are miserable and hate the place. Senior management could care less about the turnover and just keeps hiring replacements. The "if you don't like it here then leave philosophy is running rampant through senior management. Technology is old and boring and internal process and procedures are antiquated and outdated. For a 30 year old company I would expect more. This place flies by the seat of its pants and can't get out of its own way. Majority of the directors and VPs are not qualified to lead themselves much less a team. Company has a band aid attitude of patching up a problem but not providing a solution to fix it. There is a reason there are so many bad reviews on this place. All they care about is the bottom line. If you want to work for a disorganized mess than this is the place! I owe the ulcer I now have to this company!
