Don’t work here!

Pros

None. Even the discount isn’t worth all of your hard work. I have nothing positive to say about this company.

Cons

I hated every minute of working here. My first red flag was when I was put on for three full weekends in a row when I was specifically told I would never work a full weekend. Then the holiday hours came and I was put on every Friday and Saturday night until 1130pm! 6 managers in this store and I was the one working every Friday and Saturday. Store management has no idea what they are doing. Thry plays favorites. I obviously wasn’t one of them. Every time I gave them an inch they took a mile. They run on a skeleton crew and the night people get stuck cleaning up the day crews mess. I had to look all over the store for garbage bags and they didn’t even fit the trash cans. Most disorganized place I have ever worked. I don’t recommend this place to my worst enemy.

Family Oriented Environment

Pros

At Home strives to be family oriented. The work environment is laid back and everyone in the corporate office is willingly to help.

Cons

Upper Management is clueless. There are too many favoritism and nepotism. The company is based on the motto, "Who you know, not what you know." Benefits is less then average Depending on the department, managers rarely give out promotions and give them to a 'select' few and less deserving. Having a degree is unimportant and not considered at all. Pay rate is the same whether one has a college degree or not. Minor incentives are given to employees who worked at the company longer than 5 years. For example, Shares are given to managers and up, none are given to those that been with the company over 5 years and unable to reach managerial level. At Home management are greedy and selfish.

Don't do it

Pros

If your desperate with low self esteem, or a masochist, go ahead and get a job here. The discount is pretty good too.

Cons

Everything. Management thinks it's okay to have a store the size of a football field have only 3 workers in it. They don't even have self respect, money is almost all they think about and they have no dignity. I cringe everytime I see a new hire because they never have a clue, and you usually have to just nod and smile when they talk about how laid back and cool the store seems. If you're looking for experience, don't even bother, this job is the text book example of draining. Don't let the store director fool you, this place is trash. After the honeymoon period you'd wish you never even bothered.
