Pros

None. When it was Harden Ridge everyone was at least treated equally

Cons

Not fair scheduling. NP overtime. Favorites get the morning set shift which gets off every weekend.

Pros

Very little supervision from the District Manager or anyone from corporate.

Cons

The daily routines are run through various emails that come from many different corporate sources. Often the emails were conflicting and hostile in tone. There is no written operational guideline to follow. It was a difficult place to keep a good attitude, field support is disconnected from the stores and generally ask for photos of projects instead of visiting the stores. There are no planograms so every item that comes in gets "flexed" into the shelves. I could go on and on but I think you get the picture. Google GardenRidge and you will see many horror stories.

Pros

Pay was decent. Some customers and coworkers enjoyable. Learned a great deal about patience and biting my tongue. Schedule was good when I started.

Cons

Expectations too high. Some general managers work very hard to help out while others are constantly on break. Management plays favorites. They say there is room for advancement but only if you are buddy buddy with a higher up. They will tell you to do one thing then write you up for doing it. They are always understaffed. You cannot run a store successfully with 4 people when 1 is assigned to the front, and the other 3 have to process freight, work on projects, help customers, run register for backup and have the store clean before the closers can leave. Day shift puts too much on closers. No appreciation for hard work. No special anything to thank employees. If someone won employee of the month for the district, the store got a little money for pizza. That was it. No bonuses, nothing at Christmas, nothing! If a report was due by 12:00 and got sent at 12:15 because you were understaffed and busy, you got wrote up. If they called you to come in on day off and you said no, you'd only get 3 hours a week for the next month.
