Pros

Great opportunity to work with women who are passionate about fitness. Wearing yoga pants to work every day is a plus.

Cons

The company has changed a great deal over the last few years and there has been turnover. Less living the brand activities celebrating what the company stands for and more changing edicts from upper management of snooty verbiage to make them feel important. Upper management bullies and will never take responsibility for mistakes. They take hard working employees for granted. They give unpaid "stretch assignments" that may involve travel that is unpaid. Impossible to get promoted unless you are willing to relocate or travel.

Pros

Company has a great mission- the associates and lower level management were lovely and fun to work with! Descent discount across all brands, descent benefits and paid time off.

Cons

I have heard some wonderful things about this company, and recommendations are what ultimately helped me to decide to accept a job here. Retail is a very tough field, with long hours and struggles with work life balance- if you get the right management team, it can help alleviate the stress of this position, unfortunately, the store I worked at did not have that. While I enjoyed and got along with the other lower-level manager, the store manager was extremely difficult to work with- very petty and demeaning, and often cast a negative energy over the team each day she worked. Getting time off was a huge struggle that often resulted in unnecessary stress for requesting a weekend off, and some snide comments from the store manager, who tried to work only morning shifts during the week days. Training was overlooked completely for many staff members, and those who were the most valuable to the business (management included) were over worked and burned out quickly. My best advice to those applying is to do your research on the store you're applying to! This company has history of longevity with their employees, and many have a fantastic experience- ask current and former employees how it is working in this specific store, they will give you a better gauge on how your work-life will look should you accept a position there.
