Pros

Great organization that treats its employees well. Pension plan is stable and benefits are great, although salaries are less than private sector.

Cons

Has some of the downsides that comes along with working in government (i.e., bureaucracy). Also, it can be difficult to advance because employees tend to stay here a while (due to the great benefits).

True to the statement of work/family balance.

Pros

Many companies claim to offer work/family balance, when in fact they really do not. However, ARC really does value work/family balance and puts their money where their mouth is. Most positions are allowed to telework and/or do a compressed work week with one day off every other week and if you have ever been in Atlanta traffic - you understand how important this can be for someone who commutes every day. My colleagues do also genuinely care about each other. Great Executive Director who really seems to care about the people!

Cons

Management staff could use management/leadership training. You don't have to be mean, cold and overly critical to lead others. Could learn a lot from the fairly new ED who takes the work very seriously, but also loves the people.
