Great place to be a flight attendant if you're willing to put up with the office occasionally
Pros
Traveling frequently to a multitude of international destinations around the world 3 year bonus is great - if you work every possible chance you can before the 3 year anniversary Great coworkers - most are great but you do have few you have to watch out for who will find any excuse they can to report you to get ahead. The worse are the one that you don't know will report my pretending friendship. Long layovers - if you like traveling and exploring international destinations, this is a great job to do it at. Frequent flyer miles and hotel points Heath and Dental plans - the health plan is not the best, but it's great if you don't get sick often. Can get very expensive if you're regularly sick. Matching 401Ks - this company has a fantastic 401K plan Overall great place to work for the most part.
Cons
Office Management and the poisonous environment they create is the only real downside of this job. They aren't that bad until it personally effects one way or the other. Good people, terrible management skills. Favoritism - a small group of people get exclusive privileges that are not open to others, nicknamed the "golden children", the same small groups of people are regularly selected to maintain and hold additional side administrative jobs Creating a "snitch" society - flight attendants are encouraged to report and tattle on each other "anonymously" - the office knows, but won't tell you who reported you. In some cases it builds rapport with the office, and in others, it can lead to false accusations in he said/she said in efforts to sabatoge a colleague one may have issues with. Potentially unethical management practices - enlisting people to encourage others to do something wrong for the sole purpose of catching them in the act to be reported in. For example on layovers, using unknown people to encourage mass drinking and then then take pictures of the drunken behaviors and aftermath Very long duty days are not a bad thing, but it can be when the company insist on not providing adequate break areas for the crew in favor of profits. This is made even worse when layovers are shortened to their bare minimum requirements and flight attendants must work again without a break area for 19-24 hour duty days. Pay - The pay is ok, but the pay scale was not made for a long term career. Comparable pay rates at mainlines shows that we make less here than someone with less time and experience at a mainline. You have to work nearly everyday of the month to make a passable paycheck. If you can keep your nose clean and not fall under management's radar for trouble or percieved trouble, it is overly not a bad job. As long as you stay out the office, it's a great job.
