Leadership lacks humanity!

Pros

The majority of teachers and staff are kind, helpful and great people.

Cons

The leadership of Atmosphere Academy are devoid of humanity and compassion. Students are required to be on line for 8 hours each day. They have 70 minute class blocks on Zoom and a 45 minute lunch break. The expectations of students are lacking in compassion and humanity. The principal is currently only concerned with opening a HS and what his statistics look like on paper. He is willing to sacrifice the health and lives of his teaching staff by forcing 100% of his staff to work full time, 5 days per week during a global pandemic. He completely disregards teachers who have medical challenges that put them at higher risk of contracting Covid-19. Despite the Bronx Covid rates being at their highest, he is requiring all staff to be on the premises even though a majority of the student body is learning remotely. The administrative team manages by bullying. The culture of the school is horrible. Do Not work for this business. You will learn that they do whatever they want to the staff because they feel like they can. Staff turnover is high and constant.

The worst school to work for. Period.

Pros

None, unless you care about making a marginal amount of money more than is typical for a teacher.

Cons

1) No respect for teacher time, work over 50 hours a week many weeks, last minute additions to schedules, some teachers forced to work saturdays with comp days they cant use until end of year. Teachers often get no lunch breaks. Teachers will work til 7PM then expected to come in next day at 7 AM. They offer "flex" time, but this is a scam, as they frequently say you cant have it and that it is an honor, not a privilege. 2) You will perform roles that you didnt sign up for, teaching whatever subject they want you to with no warning, sometimes an hour before class starts. You will then be coached on your performance and told you should have prepared earlier despite it not being possible. 3) Management are heartless, dont care about staff or students during Covid pandemic. All the worst parts of charter schools on steroids.

Pros

None none none none NONE!!!

Cons

1) CEO: Egomaniacal sociopath, with only a few years of teaching experience and no experience as a Charter Teacher. He calls teachers names, as a failure as a teacher for example. He would not release your years of experience in the school for future jobs if you resign neither he would give you a letter of end of the contract to get health insurance. 2)The school is out of compliance regarding Special Education students. Students do not receive the services they should.
