Pros

I cannot write anything here.

Cons

Once you resign and join a new company, and if that company is interested in processing GC for you, they will ask you to get an experience letter with roles and responsibilities and Tools and Technologies mentioned in the letter from your former employer as required by USCIS. The below is the response you will receive .... They are doing things as per their policy but that is going to screw up with your experience that you try to show to USCIS. The following is what you will receive from Syntel Inc. We are in receipt of your recent request for a issuance of a letter with details of your skills and technologies used by you, during your tenure with Syntel. Unfortunately, this letter cannot be issued. Syntel is under no obligation to issue such letter and considering our internal corporate protocol, such letters will not be issued. Mentioned herewith is an extract from the HR Manual with regards to the above mentioned topic:- “It is Syntel's policy to provide employment verification letters to its employees or former employees upon request. All requests should be directed to the Human Resources Department. Employment verification letters will confirm the dates during which an employee worked at Syntel and job title. However, Syntel will not provide reference or experience letters that indicate a current or former employee learned, used or possessed specific skills while employed by Syntel. Syntel employees may not provide any reference or experience letters in their capacity as employees of Syntel.” We have already issued the relieving letter in the permissible standard format that mentions your tenure with Syntel INC. There are no other letters that will be issued by the Organization Please note that this is a final note on the said topic and there are no exceptions to this matter. We wish best of luck on your future endeavors !! ---- Think twice before joining !

Pros

They will on board you as soon as possible.

Cons

I was having h1b work visa and was working for another MNC in USA. I have submitted my profile in monster.com, and got a call from Syntel recruitment rep. Within 2 weeks, I have got offer and finalized everything. Interview was worst & the interviewer is not good technically. However I have accepted offer and relocated to new location at my own expenses, they said they will do reimbursement late. I have spend around 6000$(which is 3 laks rupee) my own cost and went to their new location. I never get it back, they have multiple round of approver & each layer’s ETA is 60days. everybody is delaying,, After 8 months, it went to payroll deportment for final approval, but it rejected , because I am eligible for upto 5500$ relocation. I told them that, it is ok & just pay 5500$ back. But they refused and asked me to go for another request and chain of approval. I got frustrated and resubmit again. Meanwhile my manager was changed and he refused to approve my request. I lost all my saving for this stupid relocation & never able to my money back. Then at 11th month of work, they released me from project and asked me to find another project with help of HR. I am a family man, and I still have 2 more month lease in my apartment, that lease breakage come around 2 month rent($2400). That is also on me again. I have paid that also & not interested to work Syntel any more, then resign Syntel and went back to India on my own cost(another 1800$). I have lost more than 10000$ from my pocket within a year , because of this stupid relocation and company. And work –life balance also very bad, they talk in Hindi at meeting and many non Hindi speaking employee never understood it mostly. They call you midnight from offshore and ask status , you might be in middle of sleep. They upper management team is worst and never understood employee concern and also they treat you as slave. So if you’re in H1b visa, please don’t ever think to join Syntel.

Pros

1. Early Onsite opportunity. Syntel is company where one can get early onsite opportunity. It is good thing that even if you don't have skills your visa will be processed and as soon as you get visa you will be sent onsite from any project even if your skills doesn't match.

Cons

1. If you don't get onsite opportunity then you are looser. Neither you get respected salary at offshore nor good technical knowledge. 2. Syntel treats you like slave once they process your visa. At every visa processing stage you have to sign some kind of undertaking(bond). 3. If you leave company at onsite then you have to pay 5 lac bond amount+3 months notice period pay. I paid more than 5.5 lac. It is like returning back six months onsite earning back to Syntel. 4. If you want to grow in technical field then Syntel is not the company for you. If you want to be in politics in then it is good choice. 5. It is company for people with retirement in mind, Because they try to bog down everyone else with their HR policies. (p.s. HR guys gets salary based on how many careers they destroyed.)
