Pros

Good benefits, flexible work schedule, work from home, offers up to $2K for higher education/certifications that benefit the department. The company has recurring employee appreciation events, and outdoors activities if you wish to participate (LiveWell).

Cons

Some managers may not be as flexible as others, but it depends on the department you get hired into.

Pros

one positive aspect of working as a nurse in general is there is job security

Cons

Have been a nurse for 5 years with all being in acute care- 4 years at CHS and only make 24.21/hour. benefits are horrendous- might as well not have insurance. with a $6,500 deductible. mandatory flu shot or else we get fired. Treated like slaves by administration. LEAN training has changed face of healthcare where we treat patients as clients and are even told to refer to them as such. All CHS cares about is the bottom line and they could care less about anything that gets in the way of them making their dollars. I warn every nurse I can to not choose CHS for these reasons. The profession of Nursing is not respected here.

Health insurance benefit is useless

Pros

It is ok to work at CHS, as long as you understand the “benefits” package and never get sick or have a chronic condition. The company has grown so quickly that it is hasn’t matched its processes and environment to match. This creates confusion and misunderstandings.

Cons

The employee health insurance is totally useless. It would be far cheaper to simply not have health insurance and pay as you go. You must pay full price (which are much higher than general clinics) until you meet the very high detectable. By the time you meet the deductible, you have to start over. What is the point. It only helps if you have a catestropic issue and you must still pay 25% detectable. You could go bankrupt with this!
