Mismanaged and Little Room for Growth

Pros

Very understanding of work/family balance and flexibility to WfH. The business is doing tremendously well, and you would think that would mean happy employees, but...

Cons

Unfortunately there are limited opportunities for career growth. Recruiters tout multiple opportunities per year for promotions but I haven't seen the rapid upward movement they speak about. Audible/Amazon degrades the value of your experience. They'll often bring you in a level lower than you were previously, claiming that their Director role is the equivalent of a Senior Director role elsewhere. This is bad for employee morale, as before you even enter a company, you're undervalued. Also, I have found the disparity they claim is between their role definition and other companies is non-existent. Very disappointing to find out that you shouldn't have taken a title and salary hit...

Pros

Still has the feel of a start up company. New and exciting challenges everyday. You are surrounded by extremely smart and passionate co-workers.

Cons

The pace, ambiguity, work hard-play hard culture may not be for everyone.

Pros

Solid product with continued evolution, interesting people to work with and interesting problems to solve, smart environment, dynamic culture, great compensation and benefits, cool technology to work with. Left a full-time role for a contract position because I believe in what we're working on here, although it's not without hiccups. Is anything easy worth doing? What's important is that we have the will, the tools, the money and the fun. The new leadership (that makes some people unhappy) also brings new perspective and much-needed change and improvement. It's an exciting time to be here!

Cons

I mean, Newark isn't the closest (it's also not the farthest), but the opportunity makes the commute worthwhile. New leadership can always be a challenge and transition isn't always easy for people. Also I really need to stay away from the dessert bar. The chocolate chip mint cookies are too good.
