Pros

Friendly office environment and open office ethic. Some senior managers are approachable however there are some who will not give you the time of day unless you're on the same level as they are.

Cons

Extreme lack of transparency and unfulfilled promises. Poor people management skills by managers who don't know the difference between delegation and somebody else doing their job for them, then pass it of as their own achievement. It appears that rather than develop existing staff they are more concerned about spending money, time and effort with recruitment drives. No internal opportunities are promoted to internal staff and career development seems like an inconvenience to most managers as do 1-2-1 meetings. Unless you attend company social events and oversees business trips then you stand very little chance of career progression. Senior managers like to spend lots of time flying between London and Newark for a meetings and spend very little time keeping staff up to date with company news and goals. Lack of vision.

Pros

At Audible I was given responsibility from day 1 together with the tools and support to achieve my objectives. I was also able to impact the business from the get-go. The call out for new and disruptive ideas is constant in my team and I'm constantly toggling between tactic and strategy. My team and management are highly qualified and engaged and have always been there. US and International offices have a great atmosphere and really cool perks.

Cons

The fact that we have two souls - "Audible" and "Amazon" - makes sometimes collaboration tough. Would be great to have a clear guideline on where Audible ends and Amazon begins.

Pros

Fantastic experience. Lots of innovation, fast-paced culture, surrounded by smart people, great resume-builder and you will learn a lot! Casual work environment (jeans, lunch served daily). Get to have "an Amazon company" on your resume.

Cons

Insane workload, political infighting, lack of alignment between senior leaders, resulting in constant firedrills with "get it done now" mentality. Absolutely no regard for work/life balance or job satisfaction. Pace is exhausting and burnout is common. Time off/vacation is horrible. In some groups, 12-14/hr days are expected. You will bring work home every night and weekend.
