Growing company. Wilting morale.

Pros

All the negative review for this company are accurate, so I guess you can say that a pro is that everyone is on the same page at least?

Cons

It's really a same, there's true potential in their business model. They have created an in-house brand ownership model that could really maximize resources and improve and revitalize brands. However, bringing life to otherwise dying brands require commitment and financial investment, the thing that is lacking in the higher management. You can't build a successful empire being a penny pincher. What they do instead is push all the weight an responsibility to the companies that manufacture, license, and actually market the brands. It's really a shame how such a great idea is tarnished by poor strategic management.

Pros

Met some nice people. They either left the company or are looking for another job. But it was nice meetng them.

Cons

Where to begin? I saw many business activities that made me Shake My Head. And not in a good way. - Various members of the Salter/CEO family have a strange sense of how to treat people and look upon others as if they are wortheless. - Human resources was awful. They were not a resource. But there is some turnover going on there so maybe things will be better in that area. Or maybe not, I mean the company does not have a good record of treating people well so if you are very desperate for a job, go for it. If not, you can find another job somewhere else that is better. - And stay away from the finance department unless you need a good laugh or want to see how not to balance the numbers... LOL.

Sadly rotten at the core

Pros

Made some great friends and appreciated working with some well known (although in some cases dying) brands. Pay was pretty good too. The fact that there could be upside was a good carrot.

Cons

Sold the dream of the sky's the limit and that thinking big in both ideas and execution will get you ahead. Unfortunately this is not the case - only family, and "friends of family" get ahead. Even if you bring in a lot of money, they will steal your deal and shun you. I have seen them use employees for their contacts, fire them, and then take the credit for the ongoing deals. On the brand side, I have seen some executives act unprofessional towards partners and vendors with full support of leadership allowing them to act that way. If you have a soul, it can uncomfortable to be in the same room. There is no vision, no mission, and no values. Tons of abusive meetings where leaders feel entitled to bully employees.
