Pros

I have worked at ALP (formerly CLC, AIS, PCFA, and ACT) for many years now and am enjoying this new management team. They are realistic and set attainable goals for all of their employees. They are working hard to not only to make a healthy business, but also working toward providing a lot of staff development across the different positions. There is value placed in clinical expertise and personal growth.

Cons

There is currently a high billable quota required that often puts stress on BCBAs and mid-level supervisors which results in high caseload counts for staff. The DSPs are mostly part time and have a high turn over rate which makes for a lot of entry level training happening. This can be frustrating for not only staff, but also families. I understand that they are related to the change in the management and fixing the business, but the growing pains are real.

Pros

I started working part-time at APL June of 2015 and I’m still currently employed. I feel good about being employed with a company that truly cares about the families they provide services for. We at APL work as a team with the other DSP’s and supervisors on my cases. The supervisors are available to guide or lend support when needed this is a major help, I never feel lost or alone because we work together. I’ve always wanted to help people and make a difference so, the fact that we work so closely with the children and families brings me great joy. At the end of the day I know my work matters and that I am part of a team that is making a huge difference in these families’ lives.

Cons

There are no morning hours available mostly after school hours. Its hard to be a full time employee, I don't think they hire full time dsp's. I work every week day but at 3 hours a day its barley enough to keep the lights on and keep me fed, so I had to get another job just to make rent. I do think it's good job for a college student who wants experience or getting into this field. Cancellation without notice is only 1 hour so this means that I have lost my day of work and will not be paid, If the family cancelled before 1 hours’ notice. However, The company is good about employee surveys and making changes.

Pros

I have been working with alp for 4 years now and I can say that this past year the company has grown then most. I think it all depends on who your supervisor is and seniors and how supportive they are. I have a wonderful supervisor and senior who truly cares about the children and the families. Alp had improved so much since I started working and I do believe that it's trying to become a better company for its employees.

Cons

Parents cancel without notification, schedule change due to parents and childs availability, summer and school schedules...like I said before if your supervisor isn't on top of things work can be very hard. One thing that I found the worst at time was dealing with the parents some parents think we are babysitter and some homes can be difficult to work in due to the environment of the home.
