Pros

The companies stability speaks for itself. They also have very good benefits and one of the few places that still offer a vested pension. There are a lot of different technologies which makes it a great place to learn. The working environment is very clean and the atmosphere in general is positive.

Cons

Management is hit or miss and most of the management team has no experience in the field in which they supervise making it very frustrating. There is also a lot of micro management that goes on which is very annoying. Also the core values depends on who you talk to, if it works about for management then it is ok but when you bring a logical topic for discussion to make improvement with upfront cost you get shot down. Lower management has very little recourse in the actions they can take. Very hard to get fired. A lot of people doing bare minimum and suffer no consequences. No matter if you work hard or not you get the very little incentive to push harder. The raise system they have in place could use some work. Reviews are a joke if they don't want to give you the max raise they make the scale harder.

Pros

Good benefits, job stability, continued education courses are paid for. Great for getting your foot in the door in the industry.

Cons

Lower salaries than the industry. They offer 'flexible starting times' but it's not consistent among departments, and therefore not usually flexible. Technology is very behind in times. Not very transparent. Job openings, descriptions and qualifications are hidden, only managers see them. Promotions are usually based on favorites rather than qualifications. I've seen several people in the same friends group promote amongst their teams and supervisors withholding or stalling advancement opportunities from associates. The environment in home office is very 'boys club'. You don't have control over your career, and usually supervisors offer no advice on how you can advance it. This leads to a lot of employees dissatisfied in their positions, large turnover and supervisors not properly trained or qualified for their roles. Get a little experience and go elsewhere, it could take decades to achieve your career goals with this company.

Pros

Decent benefits. 37 1/2 hour work week (although they seem to expect IT to work overtime quite often with no extra pay). Insurance discount.

Cons

Managers seem to be chosen based on favoritism, not ability. Coworkers are often uncooperative and rude. It's a total boys club! Most people would rather get projects done fast than right, which makes maintaining the code a complete nightmare. System documentation is almost non-existent and training is minimal. That, coupled with a sink or swim mentality, means you're pretty much on your own to figure out everything you need to know. Senior management seems to have serious resentment towards IT.
