      Pros

      They have great benefits and a pension which is a huge plus. It's very stable, they've never had a layoff in the history of the company. They also have offices in several different states. There is a lot of opportunity to move up.

      Cons

      The salary is low in comparison to other companies. The office environment is pretty conservative and you have to dress professionally every day (a little rare these days). The work load is generally more than you would have at other companies. Headquarters is in Lansing, MI, so if you want to move up far, you have to live there, obviously.

      Pros

      The people are great. Stable company with no worries about down sizing. All management have been promoted from within. Private company with pension plan is pretty rare these days.

      Cons

      40-30% lower base pay than same job title in other insurance companies in the area. Leadership positions don't come with much in the way of pay increase = no real incentive to get promoted. Annual raise equals inflation if good. If bad, a little less than inflation = not much difference in a good review vs bad review. Management has sole control over internal transfers. Employees have no idea what jobs are available, nor their pay.

      Pros

      Large company with many resources available. Are investing in technology. You do get a sense that management genuinely cares about you.

      Cons

      Pay and benefits are 10-20% less than the industry average. At times, you get the sense that the company is 5 years behind what everyone else in the industry is doing.
