Pros

It's at least a job

Cons

As a Store Manager, it would be best to be single because you will not have a life of your own. It's common to work 12 hour days, 21 days in a row, without respite, to fill in for absent employees. You are labeled "exempt", even though you do not have a desk or chair, much less an office and you will be working the counter. It boils down to slave labor for the CEO. He is extremely tough on his employees, particularly his Store Managers. Imagine, working 100 hours past what the job description states as 50 hours a week+. There is no overtime. Gee, do you think that is a little extreme? You will not see your kids or family, much less do any activities, such as church or an outing. Again, your life will not be your own. This is why I see this country divided into 2 classes-the very rich and the working poor.

Pros

- Great business stakeholders - Company is doing well - Decent compensation

Cons

- IT PMO officers are novice in the knowledge of project management competencies - Leadership and strategic vision in the IT organization is disorganized (the cut-throat mentality prevents innovation) - The directors and VPs are to involved in the projects (micro-management), inhibiting project progress - Accountability without authority (you will not be able to make any project decisions, it will require management approval) - The cheer (Yes, you'll have to learn a company cheer)

Pros

Compared to competitors AZ is a good company to work for except in Memphis. If you negotiate well enough during the hiring process you will be well paid, company benefits are above average, AZ did not cut 401k match when many other companies did and the company is strong financially so you do not need to worry about having a job from day to day. Working conditions vary from store to store and depend mostly on how well you choose to get along with middle management.

Cons

Being the corporate headquarters, everything here is over analyzed and over-reacted to. The entire region is ran by the HR manager who can make life very miserable for you if she does not like you for any reason. I really enjoy my job and like would not have left the company except for the fact that one mean-spirited person can cause hardworking and well-intended people so much grief any time she chooses. Like several others that I know, she completely ruined my job and made my time at AutoZone miserable.
