Pros

While working for LSI Corporation, the overall compensation was competitive, the work environment was great, the perks were good, the leadership was good, in general, and the the best part was working was such a great and diverse employee base.

Cons

After being purchased by Avago, there was little information on direction by upper management. Morale was very low, and a lot of employees left, on their own accord, for better opportunities. There was mass layoffs on the legacy LSI side. Whole divisions were sold off for pennies on the dollar.

Pros

Portfolio of leading products with limited competition. This is the company strategy. It allows for strong prices and good operating income. The strategy has resulted in stock price improvements. Compensation is focused on long term components: weak salary; strong equity.

Cons

Extreme focus on short term revenue and minimizing costs. Absolute minimum of benefits possible to keep employees. Leadership is completely focused on operating income. Buying established product lines and milking them for profitability is not good for the customers.

Not a company for serious engineers

Pros

Stock price generates good equity payout.

Cons

The company operates as an investment bank. CEO specializes in buying and selling based on the profitability of each product line. He doesn't have any technological vision, nor he cares to have. Disastrous place for serious engineers because the company only makes decision based on money instead of quality engineering work. Horrific middle management is the result of CEO dictatorship, i.e. the only managers who can survive Avago are the "Yes" men.
