There is a tremendous effort put into making things "look good" to the stock holders. Associates are measured so tightly to adhere to every possible metric imaginable, that the work load is completely driven by "which team has the best numbers". The result is an exhausting work environment that feels like the leaders are trying to get blood from a stone & don't really care about associates or residents. Also, duplicitous behavior from some of the exec team; giving directives, then passing the buck when the result doesn't pan out in their favor so they did not take the heat. Very dissapointing experience.

-The product (apartments) are cheap and terribly made. Avalon uses the bottom of the barrel contractors and material -You are bombarded as an employee with "vote us #1" on glassdoor while passive threats of your employment security are made if you don't oblige. -Very political and begs loyalty to "the man. Your only way "up" is selling your soul to the corporate lies they spew to their prospects, residents and employee's -Whitewashed and conservative -A clinical number of seminars are held to remind you how special it is to work for Avalon, while coercing you to go far beyond the responsibilities you were initially hired for. This is to show your loyalty to the company and also their way of cheap, stretched labor. -PAID NOTHING comparable to competitors. -Good luck getting in touch with HR or someone concerned to help you. -You won't sleep at night when you realize YOU are in charge of telling people their rent just went up 20%. Management doesn't care. They are sitting in their corporate cushion feeling great. Now be the good little employee and break the bad news to the family who just had a kid and can't afford the move or hike in rent. Bottom line, they have a "brush it under the table" mentality and demands complete loyalty to their corporate leaders. Their product is terribly made and they expect you to lie and deceive their customers. I did not come across one person that was truly happy working there. Hopefully, this will deter you from making the same mistake I made and what felt like a very long jail sentence.
