Individualized Care (Clients and Staff)
Pros
Working for Avenues is all about bettering yourself while you help others better themselves. I love that I can go to work knowing I have all this support. I know it's kind of cheesy to say it's like a family-but it's true! Avenues tailors a client's treatment to each individual, but they do the same thing for their employees. Avenues may be road to 'find your way home,' but for me, it IS home!
Cons
Cons are that the atmosphere is completely unpredictable. When you are working in a behavioral facility it is unknown what kind of day you might have. You have to be prepared for the best and worst case scenarios. It is heartbreaking when you lose a client. As far as cons that are only related to the employment part, the only thing that's personal to me is that your PTO cannot be cashed out or rolled over to the next year. (However, just to be fully transparent, they are extremely accommodating in making sure you are able to take your earned PTO.)
