      Avera is all about image. Not good in practice.

      Pros

      The sisters do seem to really be interested in living out the mission..... but, people in charge including HR are not what I would consider transparent or ethical.

      Cons

      HR cannot be trusted at all. During the past 2 rounds of layoffs, HR and management were compiling lists of people who used FMLA and workers comp to go to the top of the list. Front line staff didn't know about this, and it's illegal to do this. Don't trust HR or your manager. Keep in mind, this review is coming from a former manager.

      Great co-workers, a real family feel

      Cons

      Top heavy management, always looking for ways to cut or reduce benefits for nonmanagagement employees. Now massive layoffs. Not hearing about any cuts to management.
