Great people, poor management

Pros

Some of the smartest and most helpful people I've met. They made the job fun and interesting. Also, salaries pretty much in the range for the area, good benefits, 4 weeks vacation after 10 years employment (3 years otherwise).

Cons

Management has struggled for years to keep up with the changing industry. The company hasn't been making money, and layoffs - including deep ones - are an annual ritual. As a result, company morale is low.

Pros

At one time a highly disciplined and product focused organization where one could learn and apply valuable skills. Former leadership believed in prioritization of programs and initiatives based on customer needs and financial and strategic value to the company and the shareholder. Was once a place where someone passionate about music and business could spread his or her wings and gain valuable experience at a publicly traded technology company while working on products they would use for customers they can relate to.

Cons

Systems and processes widely replaced with cronyism and borderline unethical behavior. Business direction based on false premises. Hard to see whether the best interest of customers, employees, and shareholders are being served. Company is burning cash in operations and taking on long term debt to facilitate a vision that may have no end game beyond making executives more wealthy. Key talent has left by reduction in force or voluntary attrition. Skeleton crews maintaining industry standards.

Do not consider until 2017

Pros

Currently, many awesome people work here. Pay can be good. Lots of opportunity if you have the right role. Could be a great place to work, but seriously not until restructuring is complete, which is scheduled for some time in 2017.

Cons

Most of the many awesome people who work here, may have their jobs moved to Boca or Manilla and be offered the opportunity to train their replacements. Senior management can be challenging to deal with. Borrowed $100 million so they can complete "restructuring" and keep paying the top people's possibly excessively high salaries. Some of the benefits are embarrassingly bad, 401k and healthcare. After you work out how many hours you are working that pay check starts to look a little worse.
