Pros

Decent work-life balance depending on the team/project and I don't take work home. Decent co-workers. Not a bad place to land if you find yourself in between jobs, but beware getting too comfortable.

Cons

Salaries aren't really competitive. Opportunities to develop legal practice skills are very limited. You might find yourself asking, as I often do, is this what I went to law school for?

Flexibility at a price

Pros

I joined Axiom to have the flexibility of remote work and flexible hours. The extent to which either of those goals is accomplished depends on the companies with which you are engaged. Some allow flexible hours/remote work, some want body in a seat during business hours. You can choose what kind of work arrangement you will accept and Axiom is great at looking for those kinds of engagements for you. The work assignments have been really interesting and a good mix of sophisticated transactions and every day operational needs.

Cons

The trade off is mediocre compensation without a bonus structure and PTO that does not account for experience level or longevity with Axiom. The quoted salary does not get met unless you are engaged for 50 hours per week. There is relatively no opportunity to interact with other attorneys from Axiom, which may not matter if you are a very senior attorney. Junior attorneys who are looking for training on the job will only find it if their engagement has training programs and will allow the Axiom attorney to participate. Axiom does offer a wide breadth of CLE through Lexis and PLI, but no real supervising attorneys who can teach and train junior lawyers.

They provide breakfast and lunch. Decent health insurance.

Cons

You must be employed at the company at time of quarterly commission payout in order to receive your commission. What they fail to tell you is that MGMT may fire you at anytime - without warning - AND that that payout date is halfway through the next quarter. So, whether you are fired or take a new job, this company will pocket all of your commission money.
