Pros

Many of the people I work with are great, social and personable. Great OLDP/ELDP/FLDP/HRLDP programs for the few that get into them. Also a great organization for interns.

Cons

To be honest different areas of the company are managed differently. It is truly hit or miss in how you will be managed, but the company is very militaristic as a whole, it is and probably will be arranged as a complete hierarchy forever. Creativity on the "business end" is frowned upon. Very go by the books organization and well the books were last updated in 2000 or further out. Quick advancement in promising prospects is few and far between. Usually the limited openings are provided (or created for) the LDP program participants, but even these have come down as of the recent recession. Morale is down as a whole and communication from senior leadership is minimal at best. No clear career progression and a quick look around gives many the realization that promotions to the senior level are politically charged more often than not. Also, Mike Heffron was great when he was there as CEO, Linda Hudson is unproven and much to early to speak on. Company advertises it has a great work-life balance, for some, this is true, for the rest, we're not so lucky.

Pros

Awarded and recognized for good work. Mainly because managers are reviewed on recognizing employees.

Cons

No growth potential unless you know someone in upper management. Its not merit or work-based. Very Government-like environment where the more you agree with management the better future you have. Not very welcoming to innovative thinkers. Transferring to other divisions within organization is a challenge.

Pros

The hours were moderate, but they were also flexible and understanding of the work/life balance. Over the more than 10 years I worked there, a lot had changed within the company, so the small group of that had started in our division, slowly dispersed to go on elsewhere. But the projects were extremely varied, interesting and challenging. Great science and engineering with a good group of people all really interested in what they were doing. I still miss some of the things I did there and I've kept long lasting friendships with the a few coworkers. If the right opportunity came up, I might go back.

Cons

Senior management was more worried about themselves than their employees. Bonuses when given were a joke.
