Pros

The people, the support, the benefits!! Love my coworkers, my leadership, and my job! Great organization to be a part of. A company that truly believes in putting people first. A company that supports the community as well as their employees and encourages community service and education.

Cons

Small but mighty teams, heavy workloads, and goal expectation make day to day activities a bit stressful and tense at times. Even the greatest of focused multi-taskers have challenges keeping pace. Overwhelming fast pace can cause one to burnout.

Pros

- Great culture! Everyone is very friendly, and overall people are supportive. - Decent benefits, including: 401k matching, pension plan, plenty PTO, & a decent wellness reimbursement. - Management is open to feedback (at least at the branch I have worked) - Many growth opportunities! I have never seen so many people promoted in any of my previous employers. - Coworkers are lovely! BECU knows how to hire nice people.

Cons

- Pay disparity. It's hard to know folks who started after you were given a higher pay range. The highest pay I was quoted is lower than the starting entry level pay for new hires. I've been told it is to attract more talent and stay competitive; it's difficult to swallow when you and other employees have demonstrated loyalty, dedication, and success to the organization. Even if more tenured employees are promoted, we will be perpetually behind in pay for any new hires promoted after us. This is my biggest gripe with BECU, and I don't feel like it's doing the right thing. - Dated programs that can make the job more tedious. - Sometimes, the retail higher ups implement instructions that cause issues for frontline staff. For instance: we are not permitted to put up any signs indicating an ATM is down or has limited functionality. I partially understand why signs are not put up (it could be repaired before we remove the sign); however, it's not fun to be screamed at daily from members about how we do not have signs up. - Some tension between departments. Sometimes we forget we are all on the same team. - If you have dependents/spouse, the premiums for healthcare skyrocket.

Thank you for being a part of the BECU Team and for sharing your comments! The work you do each and every day with our members is incredibly important and is what helps set BECU apart. As we continue to grow, we are always looking for ways to improve both our employee and member experiences. This includes reviewing compensation, offering competitive benefits and ensuring we have systems that make it easier for you to focus on our members. We’ve passed along your comments, but leaders would like to hear directly from you – if you have specific feedback you are comfortable sharing, we encourage you to discuss it with your District Director.
