Pros

BISSELL has decent pay, great benefits and most people are pleasant to work with. The things that are important to the company are good causes. I enjoyed the Bissell family.

Cons

Low job satisfaction, reactionary approach to problem solving. A lot of associates on edge of quitting for better work life balance, better opportunities, and better pay. Way too many routine daily meetings with no deliverables. Plan to answer emails, texts, and chats during your vacation, out of office doesn’t mean anything here. High amounts of favoritism. Leary of external hires. Lacks diversity badly.

Pros

Bissell used to be a grest place to work and used to have a good culture. Only good thing left is 1/2 day Friday’s all year.

Cons

Family owned, so if you are related or friends with the family you’ll get promoted at breakneck speed. Definitely still an old boys club- lots of white, middle-aged men at the helm. Company hasn’t been doing well this year, however, all of Senior Mgmt just got promoted up a level. Senior mgmt is full of themselves and disconnected with those that actually do the work.

Pros

You get to bring your dog in every day if they pass the not-so-stringent requirements. Relatively updated and clean campus. If you're part of a select group you can work mostly remotely. McBISSELLs.

Cons

WELP. Whoever said minimal politics in their review is out in left field. Being driven to post a review on Glassdoor after being cued off that the spiral of frustrations and departures at BISSELL is generating drama. I love BISSELL and want to see her succeed, but the lengthy reviews of those who formerly or are currently spending their time and energy making BISSELL grow over the years aren't wrong. Frankly, I hope the noise gets people to listen and change BISSELL. I saw a list of 30+ individuals rotate in and out of the department and/or subsequently the company before I did too, without much pomp and circumstance for time and effort. The sad part for me is that some think that the company and leaders do a good job to reward, recognize, and appreciate. We don't need constant 'attaboys' but, after the peaks and troughs in recent years, the sensitively is at an all-time high. Each review in late 2021 and 2022 speaks truth into the reality of many departments. At some point, leadership no longer can have their hands tied. Most associates are simply looking for empathy. I can't tell you how many times I said this when working on issues. Leaders might literally not be able to do anything as it comes to the challenges and your response in your role, but yes, telling associates that they can't help, and I believe the quote is 'nobody has a gun to your head, forcing you to stay' in front of a group of 50 associates is probably not a good look. That pissed a lot of people off which echoed across most departure conversations I had with former colleagues. One colleague in transportation said that was the exact moment many started looking... Me too. Taking away from BISSELL, I grew, gained some applicable skills for my career, and was yes, challenged. Does anyone want to change their job? No. But in leaving, I heard some of the kindest words from my colleagues-- it was validating in that regard, but gotta speak truth in love. I'll be cheering from the sidelines.
