Too much growth too fast

Pros

Some really great people that care about you and your career.

Cons

With the pandemic bissell saw unprecedented growth. The culture was lost in the growth, leadership that has been with the company for a long time struggles with delegating and many leaders tend to micro-manage. Didn’t want to leave but when a director wants you to copy them on internal instant messages and critics your emails instead of developing your skills it is time to go.

Pros

Access to discounted products HQ building is modernized and constantly renovated Healthy financials (good and bad) Quarterly incentive compensation Intensive, but educational and interesting onboarding courses about the company, however, not about the role or field that you're in

Cons

Management and team leads have more than direct reports than is feasible to manage properly Long grueling hours without recognition. Zero empathy or care for personal life or issues. If you are only working a forty-hour week, you are not trying nearly hard enough, regardless of whether you are completing your work. Hostile work environment where clear competition among employees is evident versus collaboration "If I am working, you better be too" attitude among upper-middle management, as well as, your colleagues Zero guidance or effort by management to assist in your growth as a professional Overworked employees become bitter and standoffish, toxic environment in most, but not all, departments

Pros

I met some of the most amazing individuals through my time at BISSELL.

Cons

The work life balance is non-existent. During the interview process, comp time for late night calls was a good badge they wore proudly. I can tell you, comp time was frowned upon. If you want to be promoted, you have to play the game with the politics in mind. Senior management is closed minded, brash and aggressive in nature (Especially during meetings)
