Pros

Barnes-Jewish Hospital has good benefits and a great education reimbursement program. They offer a wonderful plan that allows for you to get your Masters Degree and they pay the bulk of the cost.

Cons

The organization is very heavily steeped in Academia and does little to zero practical leadership development. Recent changes in HR policies are viewed as negative. The HR department is 15-20 years behind for-profit organizations in developing practical methods for allowing front line employees to feel valued. HR discipline is designed to be punitive not restorative.

Pros

There are no pros, except for being employed. Terrible management staff, staff safety is never considered.

Cons

Very dangerous situations, lack of leadership, worried more about billing rather than treatment

Pros

Flexible work schedule. May work 4 10- hour shifts. Good health benefits. Good clinical experience and ability to work autonomously and as a team. All of the positives are outweighed by the negatives though.

Cons

Staff caseloads are too large for the responsibilities placed on the case managers. They do the equivalent work of LICENSED therapists at other agencies, but pay does not reflect this. Not enough time in the day to complete it all and I constantly felt I didn't have enough time to help the clients reach their goals. Extremely negative work environment and low morale. As a whole the staff is very stressed and dissatisfied. Too much time wasted on weekly supervision, weekly team meetings, GEMBA walks, and monthly all staff meetings with no consideration for how this affects daily productivity expectations. Even with working through most lunches, I still had to do paperwork at home most evenings to keep up. Extremely stressful job with sole focus on NUMBERS not quality of care for the patients or workers. Leadership and supervisors seem uncaring about the employees and agency problems. Supervision time was horrible and only focused on due dates and numbers and not about checking in on the employee's health and wellness. Another negative is that on holidays when the agency is closed, they make you use your hard earned PTO days.
