Pros

Good pay and bennies while you work there Ability to work from home You will be able to leave someday if the job doesn't kill you first

Cons

Company is a nightmare to work for if you are someone who actually does the work that is at the heart of what generates Sales to include development, tech support, order processing etc, then they make it very difficult for you. Constant layoffs of these types of jobs to ship overseas, but they hire many upper level execs. If you are not in Houston, you basically don't exist until it is time to lay you off.

Pros

There are some talented, bright employees at BMC. Lots of opportunity to work extremely hard. Good location and free drinks - that is about it!

Cons

Constant layoffs regardless of employee ability and dedication. Serial reorganizations without thinking through a strategic long term plan. Lack of cohesive strategy at the top and no wonder private equity took over.

Pros

1. They pay well. 2. They do have a "startup" culture. 3. Can provide some great experience, and training. Overall, I feel like this culture feels a bit like a startup where they say "Hey great idea here go do it" - it really is just a "We have no idea what we're doing, so whatever you come up with we'll take the credit but leave any blame with you" culture. There are some legitimately good products, and I'd say at least half of the working class are great to work with. They do pay very competitively and if you can handle it they'll treat you well as far as benefits and pay goes. I do think the company will be around for the next 100 years - but I think it is a failing company that will see more hardship in the next 10 years than anyone else is willing to admit.

Cons

1. It is a political company. They are a wing of the American Democrat party and enforce people to participate in such. 2. The management is utterly clueless and is a revolving door. 3. They will kick you to the curb for any one mistake. 4. They expect you to do the work of 10 people. 5. They do not have any company policies/processes to guide you. Leaves you alone to figure out "right from wrong" in their eyes. This company is political. They make a point to push your face in it nearly every day. They have this thing were you can take off 2 days per year to volunteer at different places, which is cool - except the list of places in my area that are acceptable are all radical left wing institutions. So I would have to volunteer at planned parenthood or something - or not at all. I am not allowed to volunteer at a soup kitchen that is hosted at a church. On top of that today our CEO just had a company wide meeting to enforce Vaccination on everyone, you can not return to work without it, and even proceeded to suggest beyond the requirement that "We're looking into what else we can do". And I just thought "What else? Like there is more you want to do?" Then proceeded to talk about climate change and equality. Literally wasted a hour on those things, nothing really work related. CEO Ayman Sayed - wasted nearly a hour of the whole companies time just to tell us to get Vax'ed and that the world is going to end unless BMC changes, then tells us "This isn't political", I guess it's just him repeating the parties line... Also, I've been working now 10 hours a day for the past 2 months... Not to include been moved 2 times to different departments in the past year. They jerk you around a lot, probably more than any other place I've worked for in the past. I think this is in part because management is a revolving door. They constantly are leaving and coming. In my 3.5 years with BMC, I've had the same immediate manager, but I've had 3 different directors, CEO has changed 3 times, VP 2 times, and my department has been merged twice, restructured once and on top of this, the product to the end user hasn't changed in any noticeable amount at all. So they're shuffling management to make us think they're busy - but in reality they're twiddling their thumbs collecting a check. Along with all of this change (which doesn't bother me as much as a normal person) the department I work for doesn't have any processes in place for how to perform normal daily task. And you might think I mean they have bad processes, or that they have unclear processes - NO - I mean they have NO processes. There isn't a single mention anywhere of how we even request a new lab environment to test in, or who to send a ticket to for any possible request. You're just expected to know that. Which brings me to the ultimate issue here, is there is no accountability for management. They can just say "Hey, you didn't follow our process" and I can say "what process", then they just say "the one I made up". Nothing is documented nothing is confirmed, nothing is explained. And I think they purposefully do this because they know most people will do the right thing and just ask around until they figure it out, and then they'll do their best to do what needs to be done... But, if you so happen to do it wrong just once - then you'll be questioned 100 times about why you did it that way. This ensures that YOU'RE at fault not management. It can't be managements fault because we didn't have that policy before, but now that we do you didn't do it. On top of all of this, BMC announced today they plan on "changing direction" in the next 1-2 years. We just spent BILLIONS of dollars about 3-4 years ago to go private, and now they want to change that. This senior management has no consistent direction, but they do know what they're doing. They're going to get rich by selling the company to investors, then bail right before the ship hits the iceburg. While I do not believe this will sink the ship, I do believe that it will be severely damaged and irreversible.
