Pros

Generous number of vacation days.

Cons

The low pay used to be justified via a stable job environment with strong work/ life balance. But with all the cost cutting, most teams are drowning in work and senior management turns a blind eye. Benefits have gotten worse each year as things have slowly been getting taken away. Senior management has high turnover which stifle your career growth overnight despite previous years of added value. Culturally, BNYM is about 10’years behind everyone else in technology, infrastructure, and service models.

Pros

Can not think of any.

Cons

To many to share in this limited space. I can only speak for the Oriskany NY office. Run run run away, do not take a job here. They do not value people that have worked for them for over 20 years, shipped anyone grandfathered into the pension right out the door like their knowledge and experience doesn’t matter one bit. People that sacrificed time with their families to make sure that all payments and compensation for 9/11 was processed. People that gave up weekends and holidays that they can never get back. There is no work life balance in this awful place.

Pros

You get paid over time. Depending on your boss they understand if things come up and are pretty flexible.

Cons

No work life balance. They tell you what you want to hear in your interview but most of it is not true. Sure you get lots of vacation time but you have to take 2 weeks together and the last week as a whole. You cannot break it up. You do not get all those holidays off. You take turns to which ones you have to work. For holidays and vacation it's seniority so you are SOL if you are new. Even though you work till 5 you are expected to work till at least 530 if not 6. Some people work till 8 or 9. There's no reason that any of us should have to go into the office. They didn't change anything so we would have meetings on those days they just wanted us in. I did the exact same thing I did in office as I did at home, just had to get up way ealier and spend money on gas and parking. They are so under staffed so everyone is over worked and you will be to. My exit 2 weeks was a mess. No one told me anything and hr never reached out to me. Get your pay stubs before you quit because you wont be able to get them after. I dont know how thats allowed but it is. You cant see your own paystubs after you quit! Over all just dont work for a huge corporation because they dont care about you or your family.
