Pros

Getting paid and driving away from work.

Cons

Managers, micro management, sign in/sign out sheets, outdated software, gossip, back biting, below expectations "scapegoat" 10% policy, having to inform your managers if you're interviewing with another department within BNY, and much more. Hopefully your managers like you, if not you can kiss any chance of getting into another department goodbye, they will block you from being hired in other departments within the company. Don't let those meaningless 1 on 1 meetings with your managers fool you, be very cautious of what you say. They only care about themselves. The mandatory "Below Expectations" 10% policy, is when at least 1 person in your department is given a "below expectation" rating on their mid year and end year review. If you're doing everything right, you to can be cast into the below expectations category, no one is safe, unless you are apart of your managers "teacher's pet" club., then you don't have anything to worry about. They want you at work all day!!! So make sure to spend as much time with your children before you get to work, because you will be stuck at your desk for long periods of time. You're lucky if you eat lunch!

Pros

-Great pay and benefits overall. -College tuition benefits. -Outside training benefits. -Health care benefits appeared to be above average. -Retirement benefits were above average.

Cons

-Mid to upper management is the worst that I have been exposed to in any sector and anywhere. -Toxic work environment overall - mostly due to a lack of top-down leadership. -Unprofessional managers at the upper-mid levels. -Pidgin holing is commonplace. -Work life balance is non-existent. You are considered to be working 24/7/365. -Disjointed communications between managers and groups leading to constant conflict and animosity. -Mandatory "bottom 10%" employee rating system - regardless of how long employee had been aboard or size of group. -Very poor CISO - somewhat technically proficient but a poor leader.

Pros

-Several available finance jobs -Ability to resume build

Cons

The Company has far more bad reviews than good for a reason. The company is too large to care about any individual employee and this attitude trickles all the way down from the top. I had several jobs within in the company, each time management was not actually prepared for me to fill in the job role. For example, in each role I had to wait at least 3-4 weeks to get my computer systems properly functioning or receive the work I was hired to produce. I also never witnessed to true collaborated team structure, despite being told so. I've also caught some managers in bold face lies regarding highly important matters. I would only recommend working for this company to build a resume as quick as possible, and then to leave as quick as possible.
