Pros

The benefits were reliable and decent.

Cons

If you’re considering a job here, my honest advice is to think long and hard before applying. During my time at BNY, the environment steadily deteriorated as staffing cuts piled up. I routinely found myself absorbing the responsibilities of multiple former employees, and the workload became overwhelming to the point where success felt nearly impossible. I consistently felt underpaid for the amount of work expected, and even strong performance didn’t always translate into fair evaluations. That created a constant sense of instability for me and for many colleagues I interacted with. Taking time off was often a struggle, and when I raised concerns, I frequently felt dismissed or minimized rather than supported. From my perspective, communication from leadership was often unclear, incomplete, or contradictory. Decisions were sometimes justified in ways that didn’t match what I saw happening day‑to‑day. After interacting daily in office with various teams in the NY along with EMEA, India, and other U.S. locations, I got the impression that many people were dealing with similar frustrations, though of course everyone’s experience may differ. If you care about career progression, work‑life balance, and feeling genuinely supported by leadership, my personal view is that BNY may not be the right place in its current state. The positive reviews online here don’t reflect what I saw or heard during my time there. In my opinion, meaningful cultural improvement would require major changes at the leadership level.

Pros

The benefits package is reasonable, particularly if you’re the only person on the plan. Vacation time is adequate for higher‑level roles, and the additional sick time is a helpful perk. Bank holidays and personal days are also a positive aspect of the overall time‑off offering

Cons

I was originally hired as a remote employee over a decade ago, but it has become clear that remote staff are no longer valued and are often treated as expendable. The company culture has grown increasingly toxic, with many employees feeling uncertain about their job security. Frequent layoffs have become routine, occurring monthly or every other month, which has created a constant atmosphere of fear and instability.

Pros

The only pro is I currently have a paycheck

Cons

Terrible environment They take some sort of benefit away each year. The latest is letting people go due to downsizing and making up fake reviews to get out of paying severance earned. Crazy hours and expectations Dishonest, uncaring executive management constant layoffs The new operating model is a dumpster fire They are planning on firing any remote employees - if these folks don't move to a 'hub' location they will be considered as quit and therefore no severance.
