Pros

Decent benefits packages, stable company

Cons

You get your foot in the door by taking an entry level job. "This is it!" you think. This is a large enough company to provide opportunity if you do a good job. You needed this break and you aren't going to blow it. You put in the hours and the effort to move up. You excel in your job. After a couple of years, you begin exploring your options in the organization and you can't believe how many people are in the organization just waiting to give you a chance. You know that you can count on your company to do everything they can to develop you because you are doing everything you can for the company.... Unfortunately, the above is a fantasy. The reality is that you will take this job and work hard for two years but when you look for the next step, the bank will hire outside talent to do the jobs that you keep applying and interviewing for. You will talk to managers and ask for a chance, and they will tell you that loyalty is rewarded, but then tell you that the hiring decision was a difficult one and they had to take the person from outside the company with more experience. You will say - "what about the fact that I've proven myself to this company over and over." They will thank you for your service and recite platitudes that patience and hard work is rewarded. All the while you watch a select chosen few who entered the company directly out of college move up the corporate ranks. This is not a company that cares about developing you as an employee. This is a company focused on feeding the corporate culture of egotism by constantly trying to attract talent that looks better on paper at the expense of developing current employees. If you want to work for a company that cares about you now AND five years from now - I strongly advise you to keep looking.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and thanks for your candid feedback. Listening to our employee perspectives is the best way for us to implement change and elevate performance. Our employees are what make BOK Financial such a great place to work! Unfortunately, it sounds like you’ve been disappointed in additional promotional and development opportunities recently. We are determined to continue our focus on “hiring from within”. Although we are proud of our internal movement throughout the organization this last year, we always have the opportunity to improve as we build our mobility culture. I would invite you to reach out to Roxanna Maciel, SVP Talent Attraction to learn about additional opportunities throughout our organization that align with your skills. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts.

Pros

Company has a solid culture. Lot of nice people and decent pay, below bulge bracket banks though.

Cons

Company is growing and there are some legacy bosses that are awful. Like devilish awful. Report when you have to pee, cant leave the desk period awful, lunches, 5 minute break to network with your other groups on the floor awful. Required to go to seminars for education and if there is construction and you were unaware, prepare to defend your self to the death why you were 10 minutes late. Guilty until proven innocent. These same mid level senior people that have been there too long are super paranoid. They are also extraordinarily lazy. So when you are working with no breaks in a 10+ hour day, weekends arent off the table, and they feel they can say, "oh by the way, do this that and the third, it crushes you. No work life balance. They arent small tasks either. Its, "our admins are tired so please do their job, and oh, learn this entire system and yes it takes 100 hours to learn, and yes everytime you use it it will be 20+ hours min, per client, thats ok because our admin has been here for 10 years and I have been here for 20. Your title doesnt matter is the point nor your time in the industry. For all of this stress and extreme time commitment, they promise you a compensation package and dont honor it. Never experienced that before. Your fate is in the hands of the roulette wheel, meaning, did you get a nice boss that fits the overall culture or a psycho? Advice, don't walk but run from any wealth management front office job in their dallas office.

The departments are very silo'd. Your experience will depend completely on which division you are in.
