Brain is one of those companies that you really, really want to love, but ultimately you can’t because of the chaos that is working there. At the day-to-day level, it feels like all you do is fight fires and there is lack of strategy for how to achieve the CEO’s vision. It’s likely a consequence of the never-stopping changing of leaders. Brain has been bleeding leaders at the director and executive levels. In 12 months, I’ve seen 6 executives leave (a lot for a startup). One of them left after 4 months as he quickly realized it “wasn’t a good fit.” Lastly, while some directors were sharp and impressive, too many of them are subpar to make working at Brain a fulfilling experience.
