Pros

I had an overwhelmingly positive experience with BRG. I learned a lot and got exposure to different types of clients and valuation types. I had opportunities to work directly with managers/MDs/clients. Most importantly, the project team I primarily worked with was awesome. My manager was a truly good person who I could tell genuinely cared about me, my development and work-life balance. My colleagues at the junior staff level were all bright, nice, and fun to hang out with. People make an effort to spend time together which is nice. Upon exiting BRG, I had little difficulty finding a job in a different (but somewhat related) field due to the experience and transferable skills that I gained during my time at BRG.

Cons

I will say that your experience at BRG is largely shaped based on the project team that you are staffed on. While I was fortunate to work in a great team environment, I know that some of my colleagues were primarily working with more difficult managers and had to work unreasonable hours under extremely high stress environments. Emeryville area is pretty quiet which can be a pro or a con depending on what you're looking for.

Pros

BRG is a great company to get an opportunity to learn many different skills and topics. You will be given the opportunity to do real work at the junior level. You will not be doing cite checking and google searching all day long. You will be doing real analysis and working alongside managers, directors and managing directors. If you are a hard worker and do good work, you will be given the opportunity to rise up the ranks quickly. Without a doubt, the best part of working at BRG is the people. That may sound cliched, but it is true here. Everyone is exceptionally smart, motivated, and a generally pleasant person to be around. It makes the late-night and weekend work easier and more enjoyable. The office itself is beautiful and the facilities are top notch. Lots of natural sunlight, many conference rooms with big screen TVs, great laptops, and technology! Also, the office has its own coffee bar with an espresso machine, a private terrace with outdoor furniture to eat lunch and hang out with colleagues, and its own lunchroom and kitchen. What makes the DC office a unique and good place for development is the opportunity to work in multiple practice areas. As a junior staffer and manager, you will have the opportunity to work in a lot of different areas and learn a lot from many directors and managing directors. You will be able to find your strengths and your area of interest in a couple of years.

Cons

At the manager level, you will have to work a bit harder to find work outside of your group/practice area during slower periods. General Disclaimer for ALL Consulting: The Work/Life Balance Con applies to ALL consulting firms, not just BRG. Economic and Litigation Consulting certainly has its ups and downs when it comes to working hours. Some weeks you will be putting in 40-60 hours of work, other weeks it's less than 40h hours. Some times you have to work late at night and weekends. If you do not like this, then you shouldn't be working in consulting period - it is part of the consulting life!
