Pros

Decent brand name, ok pay, not much else. I think full time has pretty good benefits. Having trouble thinking of much else.

Cons

Do not work as an intern in the NJ office. Your boss will be toxic. The team has no culture and no sense of mentorship. You will not gain any technical skills and instead work on countless pitches that go nowhere. Please do not take this job.

Pros

You will learn a lot starting your career here. The projects are very specific and you’ll become a mini expert in the topic of your case. BRG does not expect you to come in knowing all the data analytics tools you’ll use. There will be plenty of training and learning from the Senior Associates / Consultants on your team. Social environment is fun - during COVID there were cocktail classes, painting classes, and book clubs scheduled.

Cons

BRG claims they determine your performance on a large variety of things, but ultimately it’s just billable hours. You will be asked to do non-billable work such as business development, recruiting, and training. While these might sound interesting it’s important you avoid them as much as possible. They will reduce the all-holy utilization rate. You need to set your values and boundaries EARLY. They will guilt you into working until midnight or tell you that working from home is not great for the team. If you are not able to deal with a behavior or a requirement long term speak up EARLY. You’ll feel stuck and unable to speak up otherwise.

Pros

BRG is a very solid starting point for those looking to develop foundational skills that can be used to grow your career. You'll work on very forward-thinking projects, in addition to working with fellow colleagues that bring a strong-breadth of knowledge to various industries. Also, individual employees receive a generous training budget that can be used towards learning & development.

Cons

First and foremost at BRG, hours billed comes before the employees, which unfortunately, is the true nature of consulting! Staff work endlessly to see who can bill the most hours, which becomes very counter-productive! Lack of communication from upper-management is also a very big issue at this firm, which especially hurts junior level staff - makes their job unnecessarily harder. On one hand, upper management preaches the importance of communication, but on the other, they don't do it themselves - which is hypocritical to say the least. In the end, your time and experiences at BRG will heavily depend on the team and those you work with!
