Pros

Great benefits Lots of vacation time Excellent work/life balance Very, very nice coworkers Great holiday parties Beautiful, comfortable office Office is closed between Christmas and the New Year so you get a nice long holiday break with little to no vacation time used. You won’t find that anywhere else.

Cons

Pretty much EVERYTHING about the work itself is a con. It is like pulling teeth to get anything done because of the mountains of paperwork and time-wasting processes that are required. Communication within the company and with customers is a disaster, as is customer service in general. Management is nice, but completely clueless, and have absolutely zero idea of what their employees and customers are going through on a daily basis. The company as a whole is extremely disorganized and unstructured. Important tasks are constantly falling through the cracks due to undefined/nonexistent processes and everyone thinking “it isn’t their job.” Salary is laughably low for the excessive amount of work required. Please note that these comments do not apply to the Healthcare team; they are far, far more organized and functional than the rest of BSI. I would only recommend BSI as a brief stopping point on your way to something better (which is what most people do—come and stay at BSI for a year or two, and then leave for bigger and better things). If you are looking for a rewarding, growth-oriented career with a company that has its act together BSI is not the place for you.

Pros

Ample time off and a liberal PTO plan that allows some sense of work-life balance. New facility that is very nice, but no one in the office respects their surroundings and do not keep things clean or well maintained.

Cons

Complete lack of caring and dedication from the CEO. The person is not in the office that much and when he passes people in the hall has no ability to greet, speak or carry on a conversation. In a public forum, mispronounces people's names and does not even know people that have been with BSI for years. Usually big talk about taking care of the employees with almost no results.

I am unhappy to hear about your feelings related to management, and I am sorry that you didn’t get the level of support you expected. Well being is a huge topic and encompasses many different aspects that influence how an individual feels while at work. We’ve taken steps to listen to our employees and understand there is room for improvement. Our ambition is to ensure that our people work in a supportive culture and an environment that will help to boost well being and it is for this reason that the organization has created global focus groups to help us improve in key areas – among them Management and Well being. In Supply Chain we have several examples in different departments that we can point to where people have grown in their roles. It is unfortunate that as an organization we didn’t sufficiently highlight these to demonstrate that there is growth opportunity within Supply Chain, but certainly also in the broader BSI framework. We encourage our employees to grow and learn and take advantage of our diverse business and footprint if they choose to seek other opportunities. The past 12-18 months have definitely seen quite a few changes across the entire organization as we transition to the next phase of development across our business. It is essential to have clear communication during periods of change, and from your comments we can do better to make certain our teams are aware of what is changing, why we are doing it, and the benefits for our clients and our employees. An important part of being a great place to work is listening to employees and use those comments to assess and make improvements. I wish you the best of luck in your new role and I hope that you find the environment you are looking for in a company.
