Year One Observations

Pros

With my first year in the books, I would offer the following observations. Great corporate culture and very rich benefits package! The management at BTS cares deeply about its employees. BTS is a small business and you really feel like you are part of a cohesive team, not just a cog in the machine. They go out of their way to make people feel included in their growth, to include their deployed employees. This is the only company I have seen where the leadership (CEO included), drive down to meet each person deploying and take them to dinner to let them know that they are a valued member of the team, not just a one year revenue generator. Great place for veterans who will feel right at home with its all veteran leadership.

Cons

Because BTS is growing fast, and with some recent back office changes, it is updating a lot of its process. This can sometimes require employees to be patient as policy and process catch up to their new reality.

Thank you for your insights. We do focus on taking care of our people and sometimes we end up taking longer than we'd like in evaluating and implementing policy and process changes. We try to make sure there are no inadvertent adverse impacts. If something is taking too long, please come up on the net and remind us - we'll make sure we don't leave it (or you) hanging.

Great gov. contracting company

Pros

I worked off site. They give ample time off and the benefits are pretty solid. They don't sweat the little things. They own a condo in florida that you can stay at for free on vacation. It's an hour or two outside of orlando.

Cons

Not a lot of professional development opportunities for those who are off site. I never received a bonus or a raise without asking for it.

Professional development is something we have worked hard to revamp. Most recently we were able to facilitate an entire career change with one of our employees and keep him with the same customer he was supporting in a different role. When our people are looking for extra projects or want to go a different direction with their careers they need only ask! We will do everything in our power to get people to the next place they want to be in their lives.

Sometimes Great and Sometimes Not Great

Pros

The benefits are some of the best you will ever have. Full paid insurance and HSA. Time off or working remotely when needed was never an issue. During my early tenure, the whole team was very experienced and fun to work with. They have branched into commercial development to complement the government sector.

Cons

There were a lot of up and downs with hiring and letting people go. Most of this stemmed from too much incompetent management. I believe the management issues have been mostly fixed. The work on the government side is never steady and relies on a single contract.

I know this post was a couple years ago, but everyone deserves a response and our new leadership team is fully engaged and focused on our new direction. Since 2016 we have reduced our leadership to a core team and diversified our government contracts. We are now focused on stable and sustainable growth.
