Pros

Very few hard workers. Had no choice but to put a star.

Cons

Plenty of cons / negative. Quality needs revamping. Way too many analysts and managers in QC. Never seen too many managers in a small group. QC have time to chill yet QA have no time to breathe. No life in QA dept. They all look overwhelm. Vacation is blocked off from Nov through the end of Dec. All are expected to work crazy hours. Production group also work crazy hours. Again, who’s to blame for all these planning? It’s very frustrating working sometimes 14 hrs just to reach the goal but what about us. Maybe need to hire robots. It’s not like the pay is a lot. Materials dept is a joke. You call that a warehouse? Everybody in that dept is overwhelmed as well. Safety is another one. Still don’t have a fire alarm in QC. Bad smell due to bad air/hvac system. Planning team/ project managers do your job right. Meaning, plan the goals correctly not at the end of the year.

We appreciate you taking the time to give us your feedback. As a contract manufacturing organization, responsiveness to customer demands is a must. While this is challenging, there are periods when staff are extremely busy and periods when staff are less busy. Bachem appreciates the efforts that our employees put in during the busy periods, while on the other hand, Bachem remains committed to employees during slower periods. As with many companies, Bachem has certain times of the year that tend to be busy. For Bachem, our busy season tends to be at the end of the year. Bachem appreciates the commitment that our employees have shown, particularly during the recent holiday season when we all appreciate time with friends and family. Safety is a top priority for Bachem. It is recognized that the fire alarm system can be improved, including in the Quality Control room, and this is actively being addressed. As a pharmaceutical manufacturer employing chemical synthesis, smells are not uncommon in the chemistry areas. Bachem does everything possible to reduce odors. It should be recognizes that smells do not necessarily suggest an employee health and safety issue. This being said, Bachem takes all concerns regarding smells seriously. If you do not feel that your concerns are being adequately addressed, please voice your concerns to the site manager. We do appreciate your feedback and encourage you to reach out to Human Resources, your manager, or the site manager to discuss any other concerns that you might have. We do believe that with open communication and constant feedback we can continue to make improvements as a team!

Pros

There is good benefits package

Cons

The company grows very fast at the expense of employee wellbeing. As stated in many reviews, the management is weak and unknowledgeable. There is a lack of communication and the quality of the product is not maintained. Instead there is an emphasis on ambitions which lead nowhere. If you would like to satisfy your manager, you have to follow their instructions and be very quite. The QC department is a grave yard where quality goes the die. Production has a lot of people who are recently hired, that just sit outside for hours between processes. Facility department it is a separate world with their own rules. QA department has only a couple of very helpful service people with high standards of providing answers to any questions you may have. With those select few you can receive quick responses with a good attitude. The others just give you answer to please their or your manager. CF QA department has their own plans and do not bother to share with anybody. No one department has a real team. The phrase "I just work here" is so popular in Vista facility. The people who know what they do are just pushed down by management and not allowed to speak up. All good ideas to improve or simplify the process are not welcome. Most of the time the manager will give you a hard time if you try to do things the right way instead of the manager way. It is so sad and it should change.

Thanks for giving us your feedback and letting us know you thoughts about your time at Bachem. Bachem has put in place a management training program to help develop the management team. We always prefer that you take the opportunity to speak with management or human resources to let them know any personal concerns that you might have. We value the open door policy we have and encourage employees to use it. The Vista Site Manager, along with the management team, are working hard to change the culture of the Vista site and ensure that employees concerns are being addressed. Please remember we can only address concerns as we are made aware of them.

Pros

There are no pros at all

Cons

This place is such a nightmare. I worked there for 2 years, a couple of years ago and I still have PTSD from it. As everyone else has mentioned already, the management is the biggest problem. Basically, they hire based on if they have a masters or a phd, not actual qualifications, job/management experience, or even basic social skills. My boss was a joke, and yet she is still there. The break room at Kashiwa is disgusting; something so basic, and they never fixed it. Many safety violations throughout. The HR department is so small (think 1 person) for such a big company. They look the other way at all the things going on. Clearly, people are unhappy there, and even if they complain, it goes nowhere. Low salaries, like someone at In & Out or Costco make way more than a sales person at Bachem haha! It's really all a big joke.
